A thousand people at the picnic
1915
The Post reported “fully 1000 people” at the lodge’s fourth annual picnic and public installation in June 1915. Houston Heights had about nine thousand residents at the time. Roughly one Heights resident in nine was at the party, a measure of how completely the lodge had become the town’s social engine.
