A $140,000 temple is announced

On March 23, 1930, both the Post and the Chronicle carried the announcement: Reagan Lodge would erect a $140,000 building at the northeast corner of Eleventh and Harvard, designed by Lamar Q. Cato, the former Houston city architect. The program included an auditorium with a stage, a library, club and banquet rooms, dedicated quarters for the Eastern Star, Rainbow Girls, and DeMolay, and a bowling alley in the basement.
The Post published Cato’s perspective rendering, the image at the top of this site: the building as Houston first saw it, on paper before it stood in brick.
