The Teamsters make it headquarters

In 1941 and 1942, three separate newspapers place the headquarters of the Teamsters’ Joint Council No. 58 at 1102 Harvard. A new statewide labor publication announced its offices at the building, and the address appears in one of the era’s landmark labor cases.

A Masonic temple, then an insurance office, then an armory, then a union hall: by the end of 1941 the building had hosted a broader cross-section of Houston civic life than most city blocks manage in a century.
